Adana’s Aspirations Through the Voices of Its People

Chairman of GUKTOB (Union of Tourism Hotels in Cukurova) and Owner of Zaimoglu Hotel Shares Insights

Adana’s dedicated residents, striving to propel the city into a tourist destination Adana’s Rich Heritage and Tourism Potential Unveiled, express their thoughts:

Tourism Potential and Infrastructure

“When we assess Adana’s current potential, we find a well-established tourism infrastructure, historical landmarks, and accommodations ranging from five-star hotels to boardinghouses. The only missing element is the sea. While we have the sea, the lack of facilities hinders its utilization. Presently, private sector efforts drive our promotions, but this alone falls short. External factors, such as the Gulf Crisis and misconceptions fueled by foreign media coverage of Incirlik Air Base, have adversely affected us. There is a prevailing misconception that ‘Tourism is the business of tourism businessmen,’ which is not entirely accurate. The historic Tepebag in Old Adana awaits restoration. Adana stands out as a region where tour agencies and hotel businessmen can form mutually beneficial partnerships.

Promotion remains our most significant challenge. A recent East Anatolia Tour with 15 German journalists aimed to showcase that these tours should commence from Cukurova Tour Guide Istanbul. Our collaboration with Oger Tour may lead to 5 thousand demands in 2005, with the potential to grow to 15 thousand and eventually 25 thousand. This promises increased activity in our region…”

Adana’s journey toward becoming a prominent tourist hub is reflected through the aspirations and endeavors of its local advocates.
